Alternative treatments for Panic Attacks

There are many alternative treatments for panic attacks, some medical and chemical, others that are more natural, relying on natures wonders to provide the answer, some that are therapeutic in nature, and others that are basically mind control and behavioral. Depending on the severity of the attacks and the frequency at which they occur, it may be that a treatment other than chemical or medicinal could work for you.

In other cases it may be that your doctor or medical professional has determined your case to be more serious, and that you are in fact suffering from Panic Attack Disorder, in which case it may be necessary to be taking prescription medicine, as opposed to alternative treatments for Panic Attacks, and maybe in conjunction with some other treatment like therapy.

If your panic attacks are mild, and not very frequent, there are ways that you can manipulate them yourself, without the need for therapy or doctors. These can include mind control in the sense that you start to re-train your brain to act in a different way to reduce the intensity of the attack.

You could also try tricking your mind into placing your focus on something else in the environment that is not related to your panic attack. There is a great technique that anyone can apply, which involves counting in conjunction with breathing slowly. Together they remove the stress from the situation to reduce the intensity that may be experienced otherwise.

Learning to be calm and relaxed can make the world of difference when you are having a panic attack, and as reported, sometimes the fear of having an attack is enough to bring an attack on. We always have to remember and understand the complexity of the human brain! It controls everything we do, say and how we react. It sends the signals to the nerves and the organs in our body, that enable us to rationalize and behave in a certain manner. It is therefore the brain that we need to focus on, when introducing techniques to lessen the negative impact of a Panic Attack.

Aside from these techniques, there are also a growing number of people who prefer to use natural alternative treatments for panic attacks. These could include things like Herbs, and plants that we know have beneficial properties. In relation to stress, anxiety and therefore panic attacks, it could be things like Lavender, St Johns Wort, and even Chamomile.

You should always be careful when venturing into natural remedies though, as they can have a bad reaction to certain medications that you may be on, and they can also have a detrimental impact on you, depending on your medical condition. An example of this is that St Johns Wort should not be taken in any manner by women who are pregnant. Of course these things need to be checked and preferably by your doctor, prior to launching into any regime of natural remedies.

Another form of alternative treatments for panic attacks is therapy. This is probably best left until after a doctor has diagnosed you as having a Disorder, as opposed to being someone who is experiencing the odd mild panic attack. Therapy can be expensive, and in most cases, what you are taught to do there, can be learnt elsewhere for almost nothing at all. This is different if you are diagnosed with a disorder, as you may need to address issues, that a therapist is trained to uncover, in order to deal with your attacks.
